The fog profile is a deeper shed on the same disc diameter, which lengthens the creepage path without widening the string. It is the profile used where the route passes salt spray, cement dust or fertiliser plants.

Toughened glass fails by shattering. A damaged disc is visible from the ground and the string keeps working until it is replaced, so inspection does not need test equipment.

The range runs from 70 kN to 550 kN, in discs from 255 mm to 390 mm in diameter.

Radio interference ≤50 μV at 10 kV and 1 MHz; visible corona 18/22 kV pin and cap; power-frequency arc test 0.12 s at 20 kA; impulse overvoltage puncture withstand 2.8 p.u. The catalogue also lists a 240 kN disc at 280 mm diameter with 450 mm creepage under the same U240BP designation.

Choosing a Type

Fog Profile
The deeper shed gives 400–710 mm creepage on a 255–390 mm disc. The standard profile reaches about 320 mm on the same diameter.
Coupling Size
16 mm covers the 70–120 kN discs; 20 mm and 24 mm carry the 160–300 kN units, 28 mm and 32 mm the 420 kN and 550 kN discs.
Spacing
Spacing is the height of one disc, so it sets how long a string gets: 23 discs at 146 mm make 3.36 m of string.

Every disc is routine-tested before it is packed, and each type is type-tested before it is offered for supply.
