Composite Post Insulator
Silicone-housed post insulators for busbar and station support, 12 kV to 252 kV, 4 kN to 10 kN bending.
- Rated voltage
- 12–252 kV
- Bending load
- 4–10 kN
- Creepage
- 300–6300 mm
- Housing
- Silicone rubber
A composite post is a fibreglass rod inside a moulded silicone housing, with the end fittings crimped on. The rod takes the bending load; the housing sheds water and keeps the surface current away from the rod.
Compared with the porcelain post it replaces, the composite unit weighs far less, does not shatter, and can be handled by one person. The fixing holes are made to the same centres, so the swap does not need new brackets.

Choosing a Type
Busbar Duty
The 126 kV and 252 kV units are supplied for busbar support. For mounting under a disconnector, the arrangement is agreed per order.
Two Sections
The 252 kV post can be supplied in one piece or as two sections bolted together, depending on how it is to be handled.
Direct Replacement
Fixing hole centres match the porcelain post of the same voltage class, so the existing bracket is reused.
Every post is routine-tested before it is packed, and each type is type-tested before it is offered for supply.
