Ceramic Insulator
Porcelain cross-arms that replace the steel arm and the pin insulator in one piece, rated 2.5 kN and 5.0 kN bending.
- Bending load
- 2.5 and 5.0 kN
- Insulation distance
- 315–520 mm
- Creepage
- 320–1120 mm
- Material
- Porcelain, glazed
A porcelain cross-arm is bolted straight to the pole and carries the conductor on its own body. Because the arm itself insulates, the steel cross-arm and the pin insulator both disappear from the pole top.
That leaves one less fitting to corrode and one less earthed metal part above the pole. The trade-off is handling: a porcelain arm has to be carried and lifted with more care than a steel one.
Five types are made, at 2.5 kN and 5.0 kN bending, with insulation distances from 315 mm to 520 mm.

Choosing a Type
Fewer Parts
One porcelain arm replaces the steel cross-arm, the pin insulator and the bonding that goes with them.
Bending Load
2.5 kN covers the shorter arms; 5.0 kN is the heavier body, for spans and ice loads the smaller arm cannot take.
Every arm is bending-tested before it is packed, and each type is type-tested before it is offered for supply.
