The limiter is a line post insulator with a zinc oxide element moulded into the same body. Support and protection are one part, so there is no separate arrester to bracket and no lead to run down the pole.

The spark gap is a ring electrode inside the housing, fixed at 75 mm at the works. Because the gap is not set on site, the discharge voltage does not depend on how well the installer did the job.

If a surge is large enough to take the element out, the insulator body still carries the conductor, so the line stays up and the fault is found on the next inspection rather than as an outage.

Choosing a Type

  • One-piece Body

The insulator and the arrester share one moulded housing. Nothing has to be stripped or pierced to install it, which keeps the conductor's insulation and seal intact.

  • Fault Indication

The grading ring is painted with a heat-sensitive coating that turns from orange to black when the element has been taken out, so a failed unit is visible from the ground.

  • Counter Option

A simple discharge counter can be fitted on routes with frequent lightning. It records each operation and gives a basis for replacing units before they fail.

Every unit is routine-tested before it is packed, and each type is type-tested before it is offered for supply.
